Even as a teacher, I am still constantly amazed by children. Their awe of the world around them, their adventurous spirit, and all the knowledge they learn in such a short time. Shooting family photos for Jack’s 1st birthday was a reminder that the best things in life are right in front of you and that we all need to slow down a little. Watching Jack as he explored through the forest, giggled as his parents chased him, and became bewildered by the rocks hitting the water was inspiring. He was most happy when he was able to explore, as all little ones like to do in the ever-exciting and ever-changing world around them.
I really have Emily to thank for her patience and trust as she let me photograph Jack as a newborn last July. I had no photography experience other than my blog at that point but she was more than happy to let me capture the sweet moment of Jack’s first few weeks at home. From there, I began taking more photos after I was head over heels with the images we took that day. One year (and a few months) later, we chased him around the lake and let him lead us.
I could not be more excited to share these photos with you. I hope Jack and his little smile can be a reminder to slow down, explore and appreciate the world around you, and have a little fun.
