During normal engagement sessions, I have the joyful opportunity to photograph couples who cuddle up, laugh and kiss even if they’re not totally comfortable with being in front of the camera in the beginning. This session was not that. I am so lucky to call Alexandra my best friend, a bridesmaid in my own wedding, and my niece. When her loving boyfriend asked me to help him in the surprise winter proposal, I couldn’t be more excited!
We started by telling Alexandra a little white lie that I needed a couple to practice shoot “for winter light” so she would expect a photoshoot as well as get dressed up. We met on a super snowy Saturday (and pretty cold too!) but Adam and Alexandra were enthusiastic about getting photos taken. About 5 minutes into the shoot, I prompted Adam and Alexandra to stand back to back, where Adam them dropped to one knee. I asked Alexandra to turn around and the rest is history.
Photographing this moment was such an honor to capture this memorable moment for these two love birds. The rest of the snowy session turned out beautifully as they naturally loved up on one another. I was there to simply capture the moment and doing so made me quite emotional. Gentlemen, if you’re thinking of popping the question, give me a call because its something you’ll never regret doing! Without further ado, the future Mr. and Mrs. Vandooren!
