Oh little August, how we prayed and longed for you. The story of August joining the world is one I am so proud to tell as his aunt and someone who has watched alongside his parents entire love story. I have had the amazing opportunity of capturing precious moments in Adam and Alexandra’s relationship over the year but this was by far my favorite (which is REALLY hard to top since I photographed their engagement and wedding). The “journey to August” didn’t come easy and without struggles but the wait made his arrival more special. August’s parents longed for their dream to become parents and after a year wait to conceive, August decided to make his arrival three weeks early so he could make up for lost time.
Photographing newborns fills my heart for many reasons. I love the ease of posing with parents with snuggles, kisses, and stares at the new light of their lives. I love the calm quiet of white noise, soft voices, and slow movements. Parents often mention that it feels like the world has stopped turning once their little one arrives and that nothing else in the world matters. This is exactly why I love capturing these moments. Days will get busier, little bodies get bigger, and these photos serve as a reminder of the days when the world stopped turning.
